My name is Stacey Cole and I have been a librarian since 2007. I began my professional career in 2003 as an educator. I am originally from Gladewater and moved back to East Texas in 2011 from the Austin area.
I have a bachelor's degree from the University of Texas at Austin in Spanish. Before becoming a librarian, I was a high school Spanish teacher for four years in the Austin and Dallas area. I graduated in 2009 from the University of North Texas in Denton with my Masters of Library Science.
I spent three years at Elgin Elementary School (a Pre-K through 5th grade campus) as a librarian and two years at Gladewater High School as a librarian and site technology coordinator. Most recently, I completed my fifth year at Kilgore ISD serving as the high school librarian and district instructional media specialist. Throughout my courses at UNT I learned the best ways to provide and organize information, assist with research, develop library collections, and help patrons.
I have always been very passionate about reading and information and, if you can believe it, I have wanted to become a librarian since the fifth grade. My philosophy is to provide a comfortable, friendly learning environment for the citizens of Kilgore and to enhance our programming to engage the curious minds of patrons of all ages. I would love to hear your input about the library and about any information needs you have.
