WELCOME to the City of Kilgore! We are happy to assist you through the permitting and inspection process, below you will find important information for building in Kilgore.

Contractor Registration

All contractors must register with the city. There is no fee to register and once you are registered, keeping your information updated is all that will be required to pull permits. Below is the information you will need to supply.

Contractor Application
Certificate of Insurance(COI) with a minimum of $300,000 in liability coverage or a surety bond made out to the city in the amount of $15,000.
Copy of trade licenses if applicable.

Engineered designs are required on commercial developments. Projects over $50,000, metal buildings, and buildings used for assembly, institutional, educational, and high hazard require professional design.

Permits

Permit applications are found on the permit page on the city website. Please submit the completed application and required documents to permits@cityofkilgore.com. Trade permits such as electrical, plumbing, roofing, and mechanical are typically approved within 24 to 48 hours. For all other building permits please allow 10 days per each submittal of information. Below is a flow chart of our process.

After the permit application is approved by appropriate departments the permit tech will contact you for payment, once payment is processed then your permit will be issued for your project.

If you pull permits often you may wish to contact the permit tech about a portal link to submit permit applications for approval.

Inspections

Inspections are a crucial part of completing the permit process and are up to the contractor to initiate. You may contact the permit office to schedule an inspection by email at permits@cityofkilgore.com or by phone at 903 988 4119. Please allow 24 to 48 hours when scheduling your inspection.
