The Citizens Police Academy allows us a way to familiarize our citizens with the day-to-day operations of the police department. It also provides our citizens with the opportunity to share any concerns and/or suggestions they may have about what is going on in their community or within our department.
The academy is 8 weeks long and meets one night a week for 2 hours. Upon graduation participants will receive a certificate of attendance and will be allowed to ride along with a Kilgore Police Officer.
Participants will learn about the following areas:
Criminal Justice System | Types of Offense |
Patrol Procedures | DWI Laws and Procedures |
Criminal investigations and Crime Scene | Property and Evidence |
K9 Overview and Demonstration | Narcotics |
Dispatch | Municipal Court |
Deadly Force | Firearms Simulator |
S.W.A.T. | Schools Resource Officers |
