Citizens Police Academy

The Citizens Police Academy allows us a way to familiarize our citizens with the day-to-day operations of the police department. It also provides our citizens with the opportunity to share any concerns and/or suggestions they may have about what is going on in their community or within our department.   

The academy is 8 weeks long and meets one night a week for 2 hours.  Upon graduation participants will receive a certificate of attendance and will be allowed to ride along with a Kilgore Police Officer. 

Requirements 

  • You must either work or reside in Kilgore.  
  • At least 21 years of age.  
  • No felony convictions.  
  • No felony arrest(s) over the last two years.  
  • No Class A or B misdemeanor arrest(s) over the last two years.  
  • Honorable discharge if served in military.
