The presence of a highly trained and skilled police tactical unit has been shown to substantially reduce the risk of injury or loss of life to the public, police officers and suspects. A well-managed “team” response to critical incidents usually results in successful resolution of critical incidents. It is the intent of the North East Texas Regional SWAT (NETRS) Team to provide a highly trained and skilled SWAT Team as a resource for the handling of critical or unusual police incidents. The SWAT team consists of members from the Kilgore Police Department and the Henderson Police Department.

The meaning behind our patch:
- Shield: Guarding each officer on the team as well as all those we may encounter.
- The State of Texas / Texas Flag: The home state and the laws we have sworn to protect.
- Olive Branches: A symbol of peace.
- Knives: Reminder to always stay sharp on all aspects of the job.
- Lightning Bolt: The strength, power and decisiveness of the team.
- Warrior and Two Stars: The individual officer, surrounded and protected by all the symbols above. The two stars are a symbol of the two originating cities of the NETRS team.
