Fatal Traffic Crash

Initial investigation revealed a 2016 Ford Van failed to yield the right of way due to a stop sign and entered the intersection. A 2005 Nissan traveling south struck the Ford Van. The Ford Van was driven by Donald Jacobs, 49 years of age, of Las Vegas, NV.

Initial investigation revealed a 2009 Nissan Sentra, which was traveling southbound, crossed over into the oncoming traffic lane and struck a 1999 Saturn.

KPD Announces Start of Citizen Police Academy 2018

The Academy includes classes on patrol procedures, criminal law, narcotics, search and seizure, tactical operations, investigations, crime scene processing and an inside look at the overall operation of the Kilgore Police Department. The classes will not only consist of classroom presentations but hands-on activities such as investigating a crime scene using modern forensic techniques, police firearms demo, firearms simulator, driving range and a Taser demo. Students also have the “option” to ride with a patrol officer and witness the street-activity our officers encounter on a day-to-day basis.

KPD Investigates New Years Eve Murder

Upon arrival police found Tracy Lynn Reedy, 50 years of age, of Kilgore, lying on the sidewalk deceased from multiple gunshot wounds. The unidentified suspect fled the scene before arrival of police.

Update – Shooter Identified

Sasser was visiting a Kilgore College student when the disturbance occurred. Sasser is a known criminal gang member. Photographs of Sasser are attached to this release.

Kilgore Police Respond to Shooting

Police recovered numerous shell casings from the scene. Both victims were transported to Good Shepherd Medical Center, Longview, Texas with non-life threatening injuries. Names of involved parties are not being release at this time. The Criminal Investigation Unit is still in the early stages of the investigation. When further information is developed it will be released.
