The Kilgore Police Department Patrol Unit consists of four sergeants; four corporals, eleven patrol officers, and two K-9 officers.. These officers patrol the city of Kilgore in 12 hour shifts by responding to dispatched calls. Their main objective is to protect life and property by enforcing law and order.

Sgt. Jarod Sears
Day Shift 1 Supervisor

Sgt. Jarod Sears has been a full-time peace officer since 1995. He has served as a licensed jailer for two years. He worked at Gladewater PD, Henderson PD, Gregg County Sheriff’s Office and Rusk County Sheriff’s Office before being hired by Kilgore Police Department as a patrol officer in March of 2007. He was promoted to Corporal in February of 2009 and was promoted to Patrol Sergeant in June of 2009. Sgt. Sears has his Advanced Peace Officer License and Instructor Proficiency License. Sergeant Sears currently serves as the Day 1 Shift Supervisor.

As chaplain, Corporal Dukes will be counseling police officers, department employees and families in regards to the difficult issues police are faced with, responding to crisis situations, visiting sick or injured officers and family members, religious guidance and death notifications.

Sgt. Will Dietrich

Sgt. Will Dietrich has served as a Peace officer since 1993, serving in the capacity of a reserve officer for 1 yr, Deputy Marshall for 1 yr, warrant officer for 5 yrs and full time police officer for 9 yrs. He has worked for Longview PD, New London PD, Overton PD and the City of Arp Marshall’s Office. He began his career at Kilgore PD in April of 2007 as a Patrol Officer and then was promoted to Patrol Corporal in February of 2009. He was promoted to Patrol Sergeant in June of 2009. Sgt. Dietrich graduated the ETPA in 1993 as valedictorian of the 165 Basic Academy Class. Sgt. Dietrich has his Advanced Peace Officer License. He has also attended the First Line Supervision training and The Command Staff Leadership Series. Sergeant Dietrich currently serves as the Day 2 Shift Supervisor.

Sgt. Terry Linder has served as a full-time peace officer since 2003. He worked at Rusk County Sheriff’s Office and Jacksonville Police Department before being hired by Kilgore Police Department as a patrol officer in March of 2006. He has served on the DEA Task Force, as a Patrol Corporal and was promoted to Sergeant in April 2012. Sgt. Linder has his Intermediate Peace Officer License. Sergeant Linder currently serves as the Night 1 Shift Supervisor.

Sgt. Vance Callahan

Sgt. Vance Callahan began his career with the Kilgore Police Department as a Patrol Officer in September 2006. In May of 2007, he transferred to the Criminal Investigations Division. In February of 2009, Vance transferred back to Patrol as a Corporal and now serves as a Patrol Sergeant. Before being hired by KPD, Vance worked for the Gregg County Sheriff's Department and the Gladewater Police Department. Sgt. Callahan has his Master Peace Officer License. Sergeant Callahan currently serves as the Night 2 Shift Supervisor.
