The Main Street Program is a downtown revitalization program with an emphasis in historical preservation and economic restructuring. The Main Street program is all about getting people and businesses downtown. We do that through seasonal events, outdoor concerts, economic incentives and cultural actives. Some projects of the Main Street Program have been:
Vision Statement: The Kilgore Main Street Advisory Board envisions downtown as an inviting shopping, dining, meeting and entertainment destination that offers a since of history and a window to tomorrow’s economy.
Mission Statement: To facilitate revitalization in down town Kilgore by utilizing the four point approach; design, promotion, origination and economic development
The Main Street program is advised by a Kilgore City Council appointed board. They oversee all the functions of the program such as: creations and implementation of downtown events, economic incentives, preservation guidelines and promotion of downtown as a destination.
The Main Street Design Committee oversees reviewing, scoring and awarding funds to Facade Improvement Grant applications. This board approves all color and design choices that are used in the Face Improvement Grant Program.
