Benefits Program

To provide the best quality of life for its employees, the City provides a number of opportunities for all regular full-time employees to participate in group medical, dental, vision, life insurance and long-term disability programs. Retirement options are provided by the Texas Municipal Retirement System (TMRS). Other programs such as paid vacation time, sick leave, holidays, and deferred compensation are also offered.
Health Insurance:
Health insurance is provided by TML (Texas Municiple League) and includes a standard PPO, high PPO, and HSA options.

Dental Insurance:
The City provides employee coverage through Guardian with the option for dependent coverage at an additional premium.

Vision Insurance:
The City provides employee coverage though Superior Vision with the option for dependent coverage at an additional premium.

Life Insurance/AD&D:
Employee coverage provided by the City, equivalent to one years salary for life insurance and an additional one times the employee’s salary for AD&D. Supplemental voluntary employee coverage and dependent coverage is also available. Provided through Guardian.

Long Term Disability Insurance:
Employee coverage provided by the City through Guardian.

Employee Assistance Plan:
Guidance and confidential counseling for employees and dependents is provided by TML.

7% of employee paychecks are contributed and City matches at 2:1 ratio upon retirement. Vesting at 5 years. Managed by the Texas Municipal Retirement System (TMRS).

Supplemental Insurance:
Voluntary Supplemental Insurance products (Accident, Cancer, Critical Illness, etc) are available.

Voluntary Deferred Compensation:
Section 457, supplemental retirement program, managed by Nationwide.

Premium-Only Plan:
Pre-tax payroll deduction plan available for health, dental and vision premiums for employees and/or dependent health coverage. Deductions are taken from the first two pay periods of the month.

Longevity Pay:
All regular full-time employees will receive longevity pay. Longevity pay will commence one (1) year after employment at the rate of four dollars ($4.00) per month for each full consecutive year employed by the City.

Sick Leave:
All full time employees shall earn one (1) day of sick leave per month.
