Mission Statement

To ensure public safety through the enforcement of various construction codes and to foster a cooperative relationship with developers and contractors.

The Building Department is responsible for:

• Enforcing adopted building codes and standards to protect life and property for those who work, live or work in the City of Kilgore.
• Reviewing and approving plans and issuing permits of all new construction, additions, basement finish, remodeling retaining walls, etc.
• Making routine and scheduled inspections during each phase of construction.
• Enforcing State licensing laws for contractors, engineers and architects.
